When Summer Bites Back: Pediatric Foot Lesions, Warts, and Water Hazards

This CME program on summer-related pediatric foot conditions equips clinicians with a focused, practical approach to evaluating and managing skin lesions, warts, and water-associated foot injuries in children. Participants will review common seasonal presentations, including traumatic lacerations, puncture wounds, plantar verrucae, and skin infections and lesions related to pools, lakes, and coastal environments or daycare, with emphasis on distinguishing benign conditions from those at risk for complications. Learners will also examine evidence-based strategies for prevention, early recognition, and appropriate treatment, integrating wound assessment, infection risk stratification, and patient-family education. By combining seasonal epidemiology with pediatric-specific management principles, this program empowers clinicians to reduce morbidity, prevent missed diagnoses, and deliver timely, child-centered care during the summer months.
